Travelink CE
Travelink C.E. provides Travelink’s tour operator customers with the ability to sell the exact same travel packages, tour and components via the B2C and B2B2C distribution
channels as they can sell via the Travelink call centre
(B2B) application.
Robust Functionality
Simply put, Comtec’s goal with Travelink C.E. is to allow Travelink customers to create and maintain, either by themselves or with help from Comtec’s e-commerce team, unique and compelling websites to sell their holidays online direct to the consumer.
Travelink C.E. provides the following functionality to consumers:
- Search, cost and book travel offers from tour operators based on stock available in Travelink and the Travelgateway.
- View offers details including rich content such as hotel descriptions and images, detailed flight information.
- Make online bookings with those bookings available in Travelink for post-booking management by the call centre
CMS Control
The Content Management System ( CMS) controls the presentation tier of Travelink C.E. as displayed to end users through the flexible configuration of pages and functionality. The Travelink CMS comes with a dedicated set of admin screens, allowing system administrators to completely control the look and feel of the generated consumer-facing website.
- Search and book controls – these are standard controls packaged with Travelink CE providing access to the presentation and business logic used to build the search, cost and book journeys for supported travel types in Travelink CE. These controls are also configurable using the built-in CMS.
- The API (based on the latest Open Travel Alliance specifications) integrates Travelink CE into Travelink to access pricing and availability information for both internal and external stock, control mark-ups and commission levels and to cost and book components placed into the Travelink CE shopping basket.
The embedded CMS system allows tour operators to completely control the customisation and configuration of a Travelink C.E. website. It also provides the following:
- Support for editing directly in Microsoft Word.
- Unlimited content versioning with full rollback.
- Scheduled publishing.
- An advanced user management and permission model.
- Cross platform interface that works on Windows, Mac and Linux.
- User friendly interface.
- An integrated, customizable WYSIWYG editor for content production

The controls-based design approach taken in Travelink C.E. is key to its integration with the CMS, and by extension, how easy it is to change. Comtec have encapsulated all of the core elements for the search, cost and book journey into a library of managed controls. How these controls look and behave on the screen is then configurable via the CMS administration screens.
